Loudoun County strives to be a prosperous, inclusive, equitable and sustainable community where residents feel free to live, work, learn and play. The Loudoun County Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program advances the county vision for sustainability by providing leadership, guidance, education and technical expertise to reduce energy consumption, improve energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and facilitate energy conservation in county facilities.

The Loudoun County Energy Strategy is a comprehensive 30-year road map of energy strategies for the Loudoun County government and community, which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in December 2009. The plan calls for greenhouse gas emission reduction from government operations and a county-wide greenhouse gas reductions from 3.85 million metric ton to 3.0 million metric ton by 2040.
