The City of Falls Church Council’s Vision is for the City to be a welcoming and inclusive community where involved citizens are key to the City’s long-term success as a leader in education, environmental sustainability, multi-modal transportation, and vibrant economic development. The City’s strong commitment to leadership in environmental sustainability is reflected in public and private development and in all of its government operations, including a strong emphasis on reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Through the adoption of City Council Resolution 2017-12, the City’s commitment to a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 80 percent by 2050, Falls Church will be doing its own part to uphold the similar goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, through both local and regional action. The City’s Environmental Sustainability Council help lead work in the city to promote renewable energy, electric vehicles, recycling initiatives, and more.
