The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is a U.S. government agency that regulates interstate transmission and wholesale electricity transactions, in addition to other issues related to natural gas, oil, and hydropower. Despite the importance of its regulatory purview and its impact on communities, many local government and community stakeholders across the country lack a thorough understanding of the importance of FERC and how they can actively participate in its processes.
