The City of Takoma Park has been recognized for its leadership and ambitious agenda for combatting climate change and promoting sustainability. All departments within the City have actively integrated sustainability measures into their operations and the City actively engages the public on community-wide initiatives.

As part of the climate emergency response framework, the City of Takoma Park will continue to move aggressively to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035. Priority mitigation and resilience actions are identified in the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan and associated resilience and adaptation opportunities memo.
