Virginia’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) offers a recognition program for students from 9th to 12th grade that provides opportunities to engage in volunteerism and learn about environmental stewardship. Participants in the program must complete 20 hour of conservation focused community service. Students develop a project that must be approved by the program. To support the students with their project or projects they are paired with a mentor who may be Soil and Water staff, Natural Resource professionals, a 4-H agent or others. Past projects have included conservation educational outreach, pollinator gardens, and more.
The deadline to apply is September 30, 2022. To learn more about this resource, visit VASWCD.
