This position is responsible for performing difficult professional and administrative work ensuring preservation, protection, and replacement of the City’s tree canopy and urban forest through the preparation, review, and analysis of landscaping plans. This work requires a proactive approach that relies heavily on professional experience due to implementing and ensuring compliance with regulations relating to trees in general and the following codes/regulations in particular: the Rockville Forest and Tree Preservation Ordinance, Rockville Forest Conservation Manual, Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Conservation Act, Maryland Forest Conservation Technical Manual and State Roadside Tree Law. The position assists the Parks management team and the Department of Public Works with the overall objectives of their respective CIP programs, with meaningful impact. The position is also responsible for some field inspections for the appropriate implementation of landscape plans for private and public development projects. The work is performed under the general managerial review of the Chief of Zoning.
