Under the direction of the Branch Chief, Forest Conservation Branch, Site Development and Inspections Division, Department of Land Development Services, the Urban Forester III supervises one of three Forest Conservation teams in the Forest Conservation Branch. Coordinates and monitors the review of zoning cases and construction plans. Provides technical expertise on tree preservation and landscaping requirements as they relate to the Fairfax County Zoning Ordinance and Tree Conservation Ordinance. Provides direction and technical expertise on County code and vegetation-related matters. Inspects construction sites for conformance with approved construction plans. Prepares written and oral responses for queries received from the Board of Supervisors, other county agencies, citizens, developers, civil engineers, and others. Monitors performance of Urban Forester I and Urban Forester II positions and provides coaching and training to manage job performance levels.
